Current NewsChemguard Launches High-Performing Municipal 1% x 3% AR-AFFF Foam Concentrate at FDICMansfield, Texas, April 21, 2010 -- Chemguard is introducing ULTRAGUARD C135 alcohol-resistant aqueous film-forming foam (AR-AFFF) concentrate at the FDIC Conference in Indianapolis. A high-performance 1% x 3% AR-AFFF, ULTRAGUARD was developed specifically for the municipal market.
Formulated from special fluorochemical and hydrocarbon surfactants, high-molecular-weight polymers, and solvents, ULTRAGUARD C135 is specified for use as a 1% proportioned solution on hydrocarbon fuels and a 3% proportioned solution on polar fuels, using fresh, salt, or hard water. ULTRAGUARD C135 can be transported and stored as a concentrate, offering both ease of use and the substantial savings from reduced weight and volume. Underwriters Laboratories successfully tested ULTRAGUARD C135 to the requirements contained in UL Standard 162, “Standard for Air-Foam Equipment and Liquid Concentrates,” and lists ULTRAGUARD C135 for use with UL-listed hardware components. Readily biodegradable, ULTRAGUARD C135 contains no perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) or perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) ingredients. Characterized by a substantially lower viscosity than other 1% x 3% polar solvent AR-AFFF concentrates, ULTRAGUARD C135 can improve performance in all types of foam proportioning equipment on municipal fire apparatus, including in-line eductors, balanced-pressure systems, and built-in foam systems. ULTRAGUARD C135 offers superior fire-fighting properties and is effective with blended gasoline additives, such as methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) and ethanol-blended fuels. ULTRAGUARD C135 is ideally suited for municipal applications, where a variety of flammable liquid spills and/or fires may occur.
